Jesus – I Need A Holiday!

Standard

There is something VERY wrong with me. Aside from the usual issues and madness. My psyche is really out of whack!

I’ve been drinking coke for two and a half weeks and eating ice-cream, as if the last eighteen months of my I Quit Sugar journey never happened. And I’m feeling anxious. Like I’m running out of time. For what? I don’t fucking know. There just seems to be this underlying tension to my days, jostling me towards . . . .

Farkkkkk.

I’m making my daily lists, drinking heaps of water, making and completing craft projects each day, plotting and planning my next Creative Co-Op, trying to write posts for my other blogs, making sure I’m touching Max a few times a day so he doesn’t feel lonely, doing the washing.

But something is wrong.

Something is very wrong and I feel like I need to be separated from who and what I am. I need a break from myself.

Jesus – I really am a weirdo!

Do YOU Want To Quit Sugar?

Standard

.

I have been committed to ‘quitting’ SUGAR
for the better part of twelve months now.

Doh!

Doh!

Source

It’s been an absolute liberation.

I have read four books on the topic and am a subscriber
to the blogs of David Gillespie and Sarah Wilson.

At the moment David has a publication available
-for just $7 –
which lists ALL the products available in Australia
that do NOT contain more than 3% sugar.

I cannot stress enough,
just how damaging SUGAR is
to our bodies.

I’ve also set up a Pinterest board to help myself
‘pin’ helpful info
-including recipes –
as an easy reference.

.

The notion of QUITTING sugar,
is actually the decision and process to
eliminate your body of the ADDICTION to sugar,
by foregoing the consumption of sugar in all forms,
for a period of 8 – 12 weeks

This process then re-boots the
metabolism of the body
and it’s reliance on sugar as a ‘faux’ energy source
and a proven increaser of deadly fat deposits in the body.

The aim is to consume no more than 5 teaspoons of sugar a day,
which is in line with WHO’s new guidelines
(and about time too).

Sugar Cravings

Standard

Cravings

Coke?Chocolate addicts . . . . this is for you

What do I do to survive cravings?

I’m not going to lie – the craving were the worst part of the whole process.

Having never been a very healthy eater, giving up my comfort (high sugar) food was tough

My body ached for them sometimes
No exaggeration !

So how did I survive this?

SUBSTITUTION

Instead of coke, chocolate or sugary treats, I would eat the following;

* “Mission” Original Tortilla Chips with Greek Yogurt (no prep/eat anywhere)
* Cream cheese on Ryvitas or Rice Cakes (little prep)
* 2 hard boiled eggs (little prep/eat anywhere)
* Sliced apple with cheese pieces (little prep/eat anywhere)
* Oven cooked potato or sweet potato or parsnip chips – cooked in grape seed oil (little prep)
* Activated nuts (eat anywhere)
* Celery sticks dipped in Greek Yogurt (little prep)
* Leftover meat (especially roast lamb, yummmm) (no prep/eat anywhere)

Although I still have to actively THINK about what goes into my gob, I believe I am getting closer and closer to becoming an Automatic No-Sugar Eater

How cool is that going to be?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So how about you?

What do you consume to survive the cravings?
Any suggestions for those of us still trying to get ‘there’.
